What Are Same Day Dental Crowns?

The same day crown is a technology for fixing damaged teeth, and this restoration can be finished in a single appointment to the dental practitioner's office. It makes your teeth stronger and more stunning, all while keeping your teeth looking natural. The restoration is metal-free, and the state-of-the-art ceramic product is compatible with the natural tissue found in your mouth.

The Same Day Crown Process

Throughout your appointment, you and your dental practitioner will talk about the details of the treatment and your dental practitioner will answer any concerns you may have. Your dental practitioner will then apply a thin layer of reflective powder onto your tooth and will use a unique 3D imaging camera to take a photo of your tooth. Using the new software, your restoration will be created according to your tooth's appropriate form and function.

Then, the mill will use diamond burs to produce your restoration from a piece of ceramic. Finally, the ceramic restoration is bonded to your tooth using cutting edge adhesive dentistry.

Same Day Teeth Restorations

CEREC stands for CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take precise digital imagery of locations requiring restoration and produce the proper restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration completed in simply one visit. We will develop and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer milling unit right in the office. You no longer need to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the lab to fabricate your crown.

CEREC can be used for a full range of indications: anterior crowns, veneers, inlays, onlays, partial crowns and posterior crowns.

Today's Subject Is:

Root Canal (Endodontic Treatment)

Root canal treatment (also described as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is needed when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and find issues early). Sometimes deep restorations or trauma to a tooth might also trigger the nerve to be damaged to the point it requires root canal therapy. Once this takes place, the pulp ends up being infected, and can even extend through the root tip and begin to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it must be treated, and can not heal by itself. It can even deteriorate the entire immune system. This is dangerous, and may be really uncomfortable. Signs that the pulp has actually ended up being infected might include sensitivity to hot/cold or sugary foods, pain, swelling, discomfort to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. Often, however, no symptoms appear and the person is unaware of any problem up until a checkup.

A root canal is then carried out to clear out the infected tooth pulp, and disinfect the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to extract the tooth. When the infection is dealt with, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any more infection. Generally a core build-up and crown is suggested for restoring a tooth that has had root canal treatment.
