Porcelain Veneers (Teeth)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a beautiful and appealing smile.
Veneers can entirely reshape your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Just like most dental restorations, veneers may at some point require replacement; however, they are still very long lasting and will last many years, providing you a long lasting, stunning smile.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is placed over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are generally only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy normally involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is normally referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy generally involves two visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental laboratory. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a short-term covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory fabricated veneers are normally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the procedure is usually less unpleasant. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care guidelines for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will help in the life of your brand-new and stunning veneers.
