Porcelain Veneers (Tooth)
Veneers are a very thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a lovely and appealing smile.
Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal option in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with a lot of dental restorations, veneers may at some point require replacement; however, they are still really resilient and will last many years, offering you a long lasting, stunning smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental treatment in which a covering is placed over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are normally only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct method typically involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is typically referred to as bonding.
The indirect technique generally involves 2 visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental laboratory. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory fabricated veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the procedure is normally less unpleasant. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care instructions for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new and lovely veneers.
