If you have a fractured or damaged tooth, are experiencing pain when chewing or exposed to hot or cold temperatures, or wish to eliminate unsightly metal crowns or fillings, then dental crowns might be an excellent choice for you. Dental Crowns cover the visible surface of the affected tooth, adding resilience and stability to it.

Same-day dental crowns are a choice that we provide on a case by case basis to patients who would benefit from the procedure. They allow patients to come to our office and leave within a couple hours with their final dental crown in place that same day. This gets rid of the need to have a temporary crown placed then another appointment set up for the placement of the permanent crown.

Our Same-Day Crowns are made with our brand-new innovation that scans the mouth to obtain the proper measurements of your tooth and surrounding teeth, and then makes your crown right there in the office. These restorations are very strong and durable and made out of the highest quality porcelain available. Sometimes, a gold crown might be advised for your posterior teeth (back teeth) if you grind or clinch your teeth a lot.

Gold crowns are different from porcelain crowns, and the cost may vary between the two and you may wish to talk about your budget too with the your dentist. Your dental practitioner will go over with you the types of crowns available and offer you a recommendation based on your particular scenario.

Call us to schedule a complimentary cosmetic consultation. We look forward to talking to you.

Today's Topic Is:

Endodontic Treatment (Root Canal)

Root canal treatment (also referred to as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is essential when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and discover problems early). Sometimes deep restorations or trauma to a tooth might also cause the nerve to be harmed to the point it needs root canal treatment. When this occurs, the pulp becomes infected, and can even extend through the root tip and begin to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it needs to be treated, and can not heal on its own. It can even damage the entire immune system. This is dangerous, and might be really unpleasant. Signs that the pulp has become infected might consist of sensitivity to hot/cold or sugary foods, discomfort, swelling, pain to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. In some cases, however, no symptoms appear and the person is unaware of any problem till a checkup.

A root canal is then performed to clean out the infected tooth pulp, and disinfect the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to remove the tooth. When the infection is dealt with, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any further infection. Generally a core build-up and crown is recommended for bring back a tooth that has had root canal therapy.
