Don't have time for the typical two dental visit crown?

Technology today is altering our daily lives. Lots of people, however, aren't aware that innovation also is affecting dentistry in new and interesting ways.

Advanced developments in dental instruments are requiring less time in the dental chair, triggering less pain and developing satisfying results.

One advancement instrument, called same day crowns, permits dentists to rapidly restore broken teeth with natural-colored ceramic fillings, saving clients time and inconvenience.

What are Same Day Crowns?

Same day crowns, mean that a dentist can quickly restore broken teeth in a single visit using a top quality ceramic material that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How does it work?

Same day crowns use CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, including a camera, computer, and milling device in one instrument.

The dental practitioner utilizes a unique camera to take an accurate image of the broken tooth. This optical impression is moved and shown on a color computer screen, where the dentist utilizes CAD technology to create the restoration. The CAM takes over and automatically develops the restoration while the patient waits.

Finally, the dental practitioner bonds the new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The whole procedure takes about two hours.

Exactly what does this development provide for a patient?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, compatible with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant.

Dental practitioners don't need to create temporaries or take impressions and send them to a laboratory. Because of this, the conventional second appointment has actually been eliminated.

Same day crowns have two decades of medical research and documents to support the innovation. The restorations have been shown precise, safe and reliable.

How can I discover if this is an option for me?

Call our practice today and we will be glad to answer your concerns on this brand-new innovation.

Today's Topic Will Be:

Digital X-Rays

X-rays are a primary tool for early identification of dental issues.

Spotting problems with x-rays before they become problems can save you money in the long run by preventing the requirement for more extensive, costly treatments or surgeries. X-rays are primarily used to spot:

  • Cysts (fluid filled sacks at the base of your teeth).

  • Impacted teeth.

  • Teeth that are still coming in.

  • Tumors, both cancerous and non-cancerous.

  • Internal tooth decay.

Most dentists use digital x-rays, which have a number of advantages over conventional film based x-rays. Digital x-rays allow us to take x-rays with 1/5 of the radiation that you would receive from conventional dental x-rays. The concern of exposure to excess radiation is eliminated.

Large on-screen X-rays make client communication more effective. The instant observation of the images on the screen allows us to discuss your dental health quickly and precisely.

Digital radiography has greatly enhanced the practice of dentistry. It enables the client and the doctor to see pictures of the teeth in higher resolution on a large format for easier detection of problems, all while reducing the radiation exposure to the patient. The process we use further defines the radiograph, resulting in clinically meaningful images that are sharp, detailed and rich in contrast.

Images are available instantly after exposure, removing the wait and effort spent developing and mounting x-rays. If an image needs to be retaken, it can be done immediately. Digital format also allows us to send out and get your images electronically for consultation that can be provided to you quickly.
