Don't have time for the typical 2 dental visit crown?

Technology today is changing our daily lives. Many people, however, aren't aware that technology also is impacting dentistry in brand-new and interesting methods.

Advanced developments in dental instruments are requiring less time in the dental chair, causing less pain and creating rewarding results.

One advancement instrument, called same day crowns, enables dentists to rapidly fix damaged teeth with natural-colored ceramic fillings, conserving patients time and inconvenience.

Exactly what are Same Day Crowns?

Same day crowns, indicates that a dentist can economically fix damaged teeth in a single appointment using a top quality ceramic product that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How does it work?

Same day crowns use CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) innovation, incorporating a camera, computer, and milling machine in one instrument.

The dentist utilizes a unique camera to take an accurate image of the broken tooth. This optical impression is moved and displayed on a color computer screen, where the dentist utilizes CAD innovation to design the restoration. The CAM takes over and automatically creates the restoration while the client waits.

Finally, the dental practitioner bonds the new restoration to the surface area of the old tooth. The entire process takes about 2 hours.

Exactly what does this innovation mean for a patient?

A tooth-colored restoration indicates no more silver fillings tarnishing smiles. The filling is natural-looking, compatible with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant.

Dentists don't need to develop temporaries or take impressions and send them to a lab. Because of this, the standard second appointment has been eliminated.

Same day crowns have 20 years of clinical research study and paperwork to support the innovation. The restorations have been proven exact, safe and effective.

How can I find out if this is an option for me?

Call our office today and we will be glad to answer your concerns on this new innovation.

Today's Discussion Is About:

Tooth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the top aesthetic concern of a lot of patients, there are a number of ways to bleach teeth. The most popular method is utilizing a home tooth lightening system that will bleach teeth significantly. Because tooth bleaching just works on natural tooth enamel, it is very important to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, etc. Replacement of any restorations will be done after bleaching so they will match the recently bleached teeth.

Most dentists utilize a number of methods: customizeded tray lightening, professional strength white strips, and in-office bleaching.

The tray technique involves having impressions taken, which the lab fabricates into customized vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is put in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The entire process takes about a week of everyday use. 3 various strengths of gel may be used, however, the higher the strength, the higher the probability of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray approach is recommended for severely stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it might take numerous months of use to see substantial color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a very quick and convenient lightening procedure. The visit is approximately one hour consisting of both the preparation and treatment. Our patients enjoy this treatment due to the fact that it is so easy and quick!

Tooth lightening is not permanent. A touch-up might be required once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For upkeep of whitened teeth the trays should be used every couple of months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of outer tooth layer.

  • Florousis (excessive fluoridation during tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, and so on).
