If you have a fractured or damaged tooth, are experiencing pain when chewing or exposed to hot or cold temperatures, or want to remove unsightly metal crowns or fillings, then dental crowns might be a great option for you. Dental Crowns cover the visible surface area of the affected tooth, adding durability and stability to it.

Same-day dental crowns are an option that we provide on a case by case basis to patients who would benefit from the treatment. They allow patients to come to our office and leave within a couple hours with their final dental crown in place that same day. This removes the need to have a temporary crown placed then another visit set up for the positioning of the permanent crown.

Our Same-Day Crowns are made with our new innovation that scans the mouth to obtain the appropriate measurements of your tooth and surrounding teeth, and then makes your crown right there in the office. These restorations are extremely strong and long lasting and constructed out of the highest quality porcelain available. In some cases, a gold crown might be advised for your posterior teeth (back teeth) if you grind or clinch your teeth a lot.

Gold crowns are different from porcelain crowns, and the expense may differ between the two and you may wish to discuss your budget plan as well with the your dentist. Your dentist will go over with you the kinds of crowns available and offer you a recommendation based on your certain circumstance.

Call us to schedule a complimentary cosmetic consultation. We look forward to meeting you.

Today's Topic Is About:

Root Canal (Endodontic Treatment)

Root canal treatment (also referred to as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is required when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and detect problems early). Sometimes deep restorations or trauma to a tooth may also trigger the nerve to be harmed to the point it requires root canal treatment. As soon as this occurs, the pulp becomes infected, and can even extend through the root tip and start to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it needs to be treated, and can not recover on its own. It can even weaken the whole immune system. This is dangerous, and may be extremely uncomfortable. Signs that the pulp has actually ended up being infected may consist of sensitivity to hot/cold or sugary foods, pain, swelling, pain to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. Often, however, no signs appear and the individual is unaware of any issue up until a checkup.

A root canal is then carried out to clear out the infected tooth pulp, and sanitize the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to extract the tooth. As soon as the infection is dealt with, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any more infection. Generally a core build-up and crown is suggested for restoring a tooth that has actually had root canal treatment.
