Three Reasons To Ask About Same Day Crowns

If you've ever had a crown placed over one of your teeth previously, you understand that the procedure generally involves at least 2 appointments to the dentist and the placement of a temporary crown before you getting your permanent one.

However, there is a brand-new procedure for getting crowns that can enable you to obtain a long-term crown the same day. As the name suggests, same day crown machines enables crowns to be produced right there close to the dental practitioner's chair.

Have a look at a couple of reasons same day crowns may be right for you.

Natural Looking Teeth

Same day crowns are made entirely of ceramic, eliminating the need for metal. While metal crowns are completely practical and safe, they're often thought as less appealing than ceramic.

Ceramic crowns more closely resemble your natural enamel, making them an aesthetically preferable alternative, especially for highly-visible front teeth.

Same day crown machines can match the crown exactly to the shade of your natural teeth.

Saves Time And Money

Every hour you invest at the dental practitioner's office is an hour off work or away from another activity or responsibility.

Having to go back to the dental practitioner's office multiple times for one procedure might indicate getting time off at work approved for more than one day, hiring a babysitter for more than one day, or filling your car with gas to drive out of your way more than once in a brief time-span.

However you look at it, multiple dental appointments cost you cash, in addition to exactly what you're spending on the dental procedure. Getting everything carried out in one appointment saves time, and time is cash.

Saves More Natural Teeth

The device used in the same day crown treatment takes a digital scan of your tooth and after that is used to mill the crown on the spot, using the specific requirements provided by the digital scan.

This enables the dentist to keep as much of your natural tooth structure as possible, which is the healthiest alternative for your jaw.

This also enables the dental practitioner to use the device to develop inlays or onlays. These are partial crowns, used when you need more protection than a filling will provide but less than a complete crown.

Thanks to the more precise digital measurements provided by the same day crown machine, teeth that may once have actually needed a full crown might now be candidates for just a partial crown.

If you think that one of your chipped teeth will most likely need a crown, make sure to make an appointment with our dentists today.

Today Were Talking About:

TMJ (Temporal-Mandibular Joint)

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint may be brought on by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and 5 muscles are involved in the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble or soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, often extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps in between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Often a plastic mouthpiece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the problem. If unattended and taken to extremes, surgery may be needed to fix a badly damaged joint.
