What Are Same Day Dental Crowns?

The single visit crown is a innovation for restoring broken teeth, and this restoration can be completed in a single appointment to the dentist's office. It makes your teeth stronger and more beautiful, all while keeping your teeth looking natural. The restoration is metal-free, and the state-of-the-art ceramic product is compatible with the natural tissue found in your mouth.

More About The Same Day Crown Process

During your appointment, you and your dentist will go over the information of the procedure and your dental practitioner will address any questions you might have. Your dentist will then use a thin layer of reflective powder onto your tooth and will use a unique 3D imaging camera to take a photo of your tooth. Using the new software, your restoration will be developed according to your tooth's proper form and function.

Then, the mill will use diamond burs to develop your restoration from a piece of ceramic. Lastly, the ceramic restoration is bonded to your tooth using state-of-the-art adhesive dentistry.

Same Day Teeth Restorations

CEREC means CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take exact digital images of areas requiring restoration and produce the suitable restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration finished in just one visit. We will develop and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer system milling unit right in the office. You no longer need to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the lab to fabricate your crown.

CEREC can be used in a broad range of indications: partial crowns, posterior crowns, anterior crowns, veneers, inlays, and onlays.

Today's Conversation Is About:

TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint)

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint may be brought on by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and 5 muscles are involved in the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble or soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, often extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces in between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. In some cases a plastic mouth piece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the issue. If untreated and required to extremes, surgery might be required to fix a severely damaged joint.
