Today's Topic Is About:

Teeth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the number one aesthetic concern of most clients, there are multiple methods to lighten teeth. The most popular method is utilizing a home tooth bleaching system that will lighten teeth significantly. Because tooth whitening just works on natural tooth enamel, it is necessary to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, etc. Replacement of any restorations will be done after lightening so they will match the newly bleached teeth.

Most dentists utilize a number of methods: custom made tray lightening, professional strength white strips, and in-office whitening.

The tray technique involves having impressions taken, which the laboratory produces into custom-made vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is put in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The entire process takes about a week of everyday use. Three different strengths of gel might be utilized, however, the greater the strength, the greater the likelihood of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray approach is recommended for badly stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it might take numerous months of use to see considerable color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a really fast and convenient lightening procedure. The visit is approximately one hour including both the preparation and treatment. Our patients love this treatment since it is so easy and quick!

Tooth whitening is not permanent. A touch-up might be needed once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For maintenance of whitened teeth the trays ought to be used every couple of months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of outer tooth layer.

  • Florousis (excessive fluoridation during tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, and so on).
