2 Reasons To Speak To Your Dental Practitioner Concerning Same Day Crowns

Same day crowns are a fantastic choice that makes getting a crown far more convenient and less time-consuming. These crowns work in similar way as standard crowns, other than that same-day crowns are made in the dentist's office while you are waiting, instead of being ordered from a dental lab like standard crowns.

Here are 2 reasons to speak to your dentist about the possibility of getting a same day crown:

Much More Convenient

Convenience is going to be the most significant factor that many people decide to go with a same-day crown.

In the past, getting a crown would mean that you would have to pay multiple visits to your dentist before the crown was in place, with one appointment devoted to preparing your tooth and another visit to place the long-term crown over your tooth.

While that may not look like it is too time-consuming, it can often be hard to take time off from your job or family multiple times in the length of a week or 2 in order to see your dentist during regular business hours.

Because the same-day crown is produced in-house by your dentist, you will have the final crown fitted over the tooth before you leave from your one required crown visit.

This is helpful since you will not need to worry about irritating your employer, having your colleagues cover for you, or losing out on pay because you had to leave in the middle of the work day multiple times to go to the dentist.

A Lot More Comfortable

Another reason to ask your dental practitioner for a same-day crown is comfort. Same day crowns are more comfy because you will not need to invest a week or more wearing a temporary crown while awaiting your permanent crown.

A temporary crown can frequently give a fair bit of inflammation and pain because it can typically end up being loose easily.

When a short-term crown is loose, it can permit liquids to get under it and touch nerves in the exposed roots of your tooth. The loose fit can also trigger the short-term crown to move along your gum and cause the skin to end up being scratched and inflamed.

While you usually do not have to wear a temporary crown for long, a same-day crown can allow you to prevent any issues associated with the short-term crown entirely.

This kind of crown is going to be both a lot more comfy and much more convenient to obtain than a standard crown.

Same Day Crown Restorations

CEREC means CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take accurate digital images of locations requiring restoration and produce the appropriate restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration completed in simply one visit. We will design and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer milling unit right in the office. You no longer need to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the laboratory to produce your crown.

Today's Topic Will Be:

Temporal Mandibular Joint

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint might be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are associated with the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble or soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, sometimes extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Sometimes a plastic mouthpiece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the problem. If neglected and required to extremes, surgery may be needed to repair a severely damaged joint.
