Today's Topic Is:

Dentures (Dental)

There are various types of dentures, but they share their common function. They replace teeth that have actually become loose or been lost due to bone loss. When bone loss around the roots of teeth is great enough to let them fall out or loosen them, it's time for dentures. Relax. Nobody enjoys losing their natural teeth, but you can still eat and talk regularly.

The whole mouth is analyzed and a determination is made as to which teeth will need to be removed, and which will remain. The loose teeth are then extracted. Dentures are fitted to go around or over whatever teeth remain in the mouth, depending upon the type. There is an adjustment time after dentures are positioned in the mouth, and it can take some getting used to. But once accustomed to the dentures, all the normal capability and appearance return and one just carries on as usual. Typically implants can be used to further stabilize the dentures.

It is essential to note that life with an upper denture, a lower denture, and especially both, is a significant lifestyle change when compared to natural teeth. Dentures affect the type of food you are able to eat, your self-confidence in social scenarios, as well as your self-confidence.

Reasons For Getting A Full Denture:

  • All Teeth missing in the exact same arch

  • Restore chewing ability

  • Restore a natural looking smile

  • Economical alternative to other treatments

An upper complete denture will often feel better than a lower complete denture. In order to dramatically improve the fit of a lower full denture, we often recommend utilizing dental implants as a retentive mechanism. Two dental implants positioned in the lower jaw can help anchor the denture and considerably improve comfort. In some cases, the implants can even be positioned in the jaw after a denture has been in use for a number of years.
