Porcelain Teeth Veneers
Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a gorgeous and appealing smile.
Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Just like most dental restorations, veneers may someday need replacement; however, they are still extremely long lasting and will last many years, providing you a long lasting, stunning smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental treatment in which a covering is positioned over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct technique generally involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is normally referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy generally involves two visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental lab. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab fabricated veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is usually less unpleasant. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care directions for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will help in the life of your new and stunning veneers.
