Don't have time for the normal 2 dental visit crown?

Technology today is changing our everyday lives. Many individuals, however, aren't aware that innovation also is affecting dentistry in new and exciting ways.

Cutting-edge developments in dental instruments are requiring less time in the dental chair, causing less pain and developing satisfying outcomes.

One advancement instrument, called same day crowns, enables dental practitioners to quickly restore damaged teeth with natural-colored ceramic fillings, conserving clients time and trouble.

Exactly what are Same Day Crowns?

Same day crowns, indicates that a dentist can quickly fix broken teeth in a single visit using a premium ceramic material that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How does it work?

Same day crowns use CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) innovation, incorporating a camera, computer, and milling device in one instrument.

The dentist utilizes a special camera to take a precise image of the damaged tooth. This optical impression is moved and displayed on a color computer screen, where the dentist utilizes CAD innovation to create the restoration. The CAM takes control and immediately develops the restoration while the client waits.

At lastly, the dentist bonds the brand-new restoration to the surface area of the old tooth. The whole procedure takes about 2 hours.

Exactly what does this innovation provide for a patient?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, compatible with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant.

Dental practitioners no longer have to produce temporaries or take impressions and send them to a laboratory. Because of this, the standard 2nd appointment has been eliminated.

Same day crowns have twenty years of medical research and documentation to support the innovation. The restorations have been proven exact, safe and reliable.

Today's Discussion Has To Do With:

Fillings

Fillings are done to remove decay, and replace the afflicted tooth structure. It is called a filling due to the fact that new material fills the hole that the decay left. Now days most teeth are treated with bonded tooth colored composite resin fillings. Caught early enough, cavities can be treated easily and painlessly. If not treated, decay can result in tooth discomfort and/or infection, and the tooth would require a root canal treatment or extraction.

There are two kinds of fillings; amalgam or silver fillings, and composite or white fillings. Composite fillings are tooth-colored to blend in with the remaining natural part of the tooth. Most dentists offer both kinds of fillings, however find that many of their clients choose the composite fillings.

The term composite refers to the actual filling material which is a mixture of glass or quartz filler in a resin medium.

Composite fillings provide excellent sturdiness and resistance to fracture in small-to-mid size restorations that need to hold up against moderate chewing pressure. Less tooth structure is removed when the dentist prepares the tooth, and this may lead to a smaller sized filling than with of an amalgam.

In addition, composites are "bonded", or adhesively connected, to the tooth, often allowing a more conservative repair for the tooth. Composite fillings require that the tooth be kept clean and dry throughout the entire filling process and they go through stain and discoloration over time. The life expectancy of a white filling can depend greatly on where it is in your mouth and how heavily your teeth come together when you bite.

Composite filling material is also frequently utilized to repair front teeth that have broken or worn. Where possible, esthetic bonding of composite material to front teeth is typically much cheaper than veneers or crowns. However, bonding usually does not last as long as veneers or crowns.
