Porcelain Tooth Veneers
Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a stunning and attractive smile.
Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Just like most dental restorations, veneers may at some point require replacement; however, they are still really durable and will last many years, providing you a long lasting, stunning smile.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is put over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are normally only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct technique usually involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is normally referred to as bonding.
The indirect technique normally involves two visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental laboratory. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab made veneers are normally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the procedure is typically less unpleasant. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care guidelines for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new and gorgeous veneers.
