Porcelain Veneers (Teeth)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a gorgeous and attractive smile.
Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to many dental restorations, veneers might someday require replacement; however, they are still really long lasting and will last years, providing you a long lasting, lovely smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is put over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are generally only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or smiling. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy generally involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is generally referred to as bonding.
The indirect technique normally involves two visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental lab. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a short-term covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab made veneers are generally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the procedure is usually less unpleasant. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care instructions for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and gorgeous veneers.
