Exactly What Is A Dental Crown?

A crown is a cap made to cover a tooth with the function of restoring it to its natural shapes and size or to improve its appearance. To prepare for the crown, dental practitioners drill to get rid of the decayed area as well as form the tooth to prepare for the crown for that part which lies around and above the gum line.

Same Day Crowns Restorations

CEREC means CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take exact digital images of areas needing restoration and produce the proper restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration completed in just one visit. We will design and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer system milling unit right in the office. You no longer need to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the laboratory to make your crown.

CEREC can be used in a wide scope of indications: posterior crowns, anterior crowns, veneers, inlays, onlays and partial crowns.

Today We Will Be Reviewing:

Dental Implants

A dental implant is a metal device created to replace missing teeth. The device is usually constructed of titanium and is surgically put into the jawbone where the tooth is missing. An implant is permanent, unlike a dental bridge.

Crowns and conventional bridges or dentures may not be your only options when replacing missing teeth. For some people, dental implants offer a smile that looks very natural. Surgically positioned below the gums over a series of visits, implants connect to the jawbone and serve as a base for bridges or a denture, individual replacement teeth.

Implants offer stability due to the fact that they fuse to your bone, a process called osseointegration. Integration of these implants into your jaw also helps your replacement teeth feel more natural and some individuals also find the secure fit is more comfortable than traditional substitutes. Prospects for dental implants should have healthy gums and adequate bone to support the implant.

What's Involved In Getting A Dental Implant?

A dental implant might be an option to replace a missing tooth. In this procedure, a little titanium shaft is surgically {placed|implanted into the bone and allowed to set. The bone grows around it forming a tight connection, which in addition slows or stops the bone loss that happens when the root of a natural tooth is missing. Once the implant is firmly embeded in the mouth, the dental practitioner then works to connect the replacement tooth onto the top of the shaft. This permanent solution has the advantages over bridge work that it does not need the surrounding teeth for support, and, should the tooth wear out, another can merely be replaced on the shaft.

Implants can also be used as support as part of an implant bridge. This is an option to partial dentures, and has multiple advantages. First, there is no modification period to acclimatize the patient who, as soon as the work is done, only feels teeth, not metal supports intruding into the mouth. Second, this slows the bone loss occasioned by missing teeth. Third, there is no pain or trouble in eating. And, best of all, of course, they do not have to be taken out all the time.
