Porcelain Veneers (Tooth)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a stunning and appealing smile.
Veneers can entirely reshape your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal option in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Just like most dental restorations, veneers may someday require replacement; however, they are still extremely resilient and will last years, providing you a long lasting, beautiful smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental treatment in which a covering is placed over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are generally only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or smiling. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy typically involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is normally referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy generally involves 2 visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental laboratory. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab fabricated veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is typically less unpleasant. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care guidelines for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will help in the life of your brand-new and gorgeous veneers.
