Porcelain Veneers (Tooth)
Veneers are a very thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a beautiful and appealing smile.
Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Just like a lot of dental restorations, veneers might one day require replacement; however, they are still really durable and will last years, giving you a long lasting, gorgeous smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is placed over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are generally only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct method normally involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is generally referred to as bonding.
The indirect technique usually involves two visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental laboratory. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab fabricated veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the procedure is typically less unpleasant. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care directions for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will help in the life of your brand-new and lovely veneers.
