What Are Single Visit Crowns?

Same day crowns are a brand-new innovation that a dentist can economically restore broken teeth in a single visit using a premium ceramic product that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How Does It Work?

Same day crowns use a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, incorporating a camera, computer and a milling device in one instrument. The dentist uses a special camera to take an accurate picture of the damaged tooth. This optical impression is downloaded and displayed on a color computer screen, where the dentist uses CAD technology to design the restoration. Then CAM takes over and automatically produces the restoration while the client waits. Finally, the dental practitioner bonds the new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The whole procedure takes about one hour.

What Does This Innovation Mean For A Patient?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, suitable with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Dental practitioners no longer need to create temporaries or take impressions and send them to a laboratory. Because of this, the traditional second appointment has been removed. This brand-new innovation has more than 10 years of medical research and documentation to support it. The restorations have actually been proven accurate, safe and efficient.

The Topic Of The Day Is:

Dental Bonding (Composite)

Bonding is a procedure in which we use a tooth-colored composite product to a tooth, shape it, allow it to solidify, and polish it. It can be utilized in certain circumstances where a tooth has actually been damaged or become stained. These are usually minor repairs, ones that can be resolved through this reasonably affordable methods instead of through a more costly dental treatment.

Here's How It Works:
Bonding involves adhering composite resin material that is matched to the color of the tooth, to the front of the tooth. This is done to repair damage done to the tooth by decay, to modify the positioning of the tooth, close spaces in between the teeth, or for cosmetic purposes. First the surface area of the tooth is roughened in order to accept the bonding and hold it. A gel is applied to micro etch the tooth surface, and a primer/bond agent is applied so the material sticks to the surface. Then the material itself is positioned on the tooth and solidified with intense light. The composite resin material is formed and polished to obtain a lustrous finish as a last step.
