Two Advantages Supplied By Same Day Crowns

Crown procedures are exceptionally common and are mainly used in place of a filling when the tooth has lost too much of its original structure to support the filling.

One of the best methods to get a crown used is to see a dental practitioner that offers same day crowns, which removes some of the trouble that occurs with a conventional crown procedure.

A same day crown is a great option due to the fact that it can restrict your pain and inconvenience.

Reduce Discomfort

A same day crown is possible when a dental practitioner decides to forego purchasing crowns from a dental lab and purchases the equipment to make the crowns onsite.

One of the biggest benefits to this is that it negates the need for you to use a temporary crown.

This is useful because a temporary crown can be a major source of pain for the multiple days or weeks that you need to wear it prior to your last crown is applied.

One reason that a temporary crown can add to your pain is that they are very seldom able to completely seal your tooth.

This can be a problem as that means that liquids, cold air, and food can potentially get under the short-term crown and reach your exposed nerve, which can be exceptionally unpleasant.

Another factor that a short-term crown can be unpleasant is because it can frequently become quite loose. Once it is loose, the temporary crown can begin scraping and scratch the gums around it.

While a short-term crown is not meant to be worn long term, why bother with it at all when you can get a same day crown and avoid one altogether?

Reduce Inconvenience

Finally, conventional crowns generally take up to a couple of weeks to complete.

This is because your very first visit is meant to alleviate the issues with your tooth, create a mold for the long-term crown, and connect a temporary crown.

After that, you will wind up waiting multiple days or weeks before you can return to the dentist for the long-term crown.

The issue with this method is that you will have to schedule multiple visits, which can be extremely inconvenient if you have a busy schedule due to school, work, or anything else.

However, a same day crown can be completed in just one visit, which removes much of the hassle connected with crown procedures.

Talk to your local dentist today in order to go over whether a same day crown is a excellent suitable for you and your situation.

A same day crown is a fantastic method to reduce both your inconvenience and discomfort when getting a crown.

TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint)

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint may be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, injury, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are involved in the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble or soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, sometimes extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. In some cases a plastic mouth piece is utilized to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the problem. If untreated and taken to extremes, surgery may be needed to fix a severely damaged joint.
