Same Day Crowns - A Smart Technology

We aim to stay current with the multitude of technological advances that are taking place in dentistry. We are proud to have the same day crown technology in our office. It allows us to produce crowns and bigger restorations in our office. Same day crowns use the most advanced dental innovation, consisting of 3D video imaging and CAD/CAM technology. In layman's terms, it is a computer-designed restoration for your tooth. The whole procedure takes in between 1-2 hours and can be finished in one sitting.

Generally, a crown in the past would have needed 2 visits. The very first appointment consists of preparing the tooth, taking the mold, and fitting a short-term crown. During the 2nd visit, the temporary crown is replaced with the long-term one. With a same day crown, the entire treatment can be finished in simply one appointment. We will use video imaging technology to tke a picture of the tooth and use CAD/CAM innovation to create the crown. This 3D design is wirelessly transferred to a milling machine that sculpts the restoration out of a vacuum formed ceramic block. We will then adhere the new crown to your tooth. This removes the need to wear a temporary along with a 2nd visit.

Restorative dentistry treatments can be essential to the general health of your teeth and mouth. Please call our office and request a visit.

The Discussion For Today Will Be:

Teeth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the primary aesthetic concern of the majority of clients, there are a number of ways to lighten teeth. The most popular method is utilizing a home tooth lightening system that will bleach teeth considerably. Since tooth bleaching only works on natural tooth enamel, it is necessary to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, etc. Replacement of any restorations will be done after bleaching so they will match the recently bleached teeth.

Most dentists utilize a number of methods: custom made tray bleaching, professional strength white strips, and in-office lightening.

The tray technique involves having impressions taken, which the laboratory makes into customized vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is placed in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The entire process takes about a week of daily use. 3 various strengths of gel might be used, however, the higher the strength, the higher the likelihood of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray technique is advised for severely stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it might take a number of months of use to see considerable color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a really quick and practical whitening process. The visit is around one hour including both the preparation and treatment. Our clients love this treatment since it is so simple and quick!

Tooth lightening is not permanent. A touch-up may be required once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For maintenance of whitened teeth the trays should be utilized every few months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of external tooth layer.

  • Florousis (excessive fluoridation during tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, and so on).
