How Can Same Day Crowns Benefit Me?

With this new technology it enables dental practitioners to custom-craft restorations in just one hour. With this, we can fabricate natural looking crowns, onlays, inlays, and veneers right here in our office while you unwind. Now, there is no longer a need to make multiple appointments to the dental practitioner's office to be measured and fitted with short-term restorations - you can take pleasure in a fantastic, natural looking, and resilient solution for your missing or damaged teeth today.

Initially, your dental practitioner will consult with you to go over the details of the procedure. During the procedure, the dentist will apply a thin layer of reflective powder onto your tooth and will use a special camera to take a picture of your tooth.

Using the new software, the photo works as a map to design your tooth's restoration. Then, it will use a diamond bur and disk-work to create your restoration piece out of ceramic.

Finally, the ceramic restoration is bonded to your tooth using state-of-the-art adhesive dentistry.

It makes your teeth stronger and more stunning - all while keeping your teeth looking natural. The restoration is metal-free and the top-quality ceramic product works with the natural tissue found in your mouth.

Today's Subject Will Be:

Dental Crowns

A crown (or cap) is a covering that encases the entire tooth surface area restoring it to its original sizes and shape. A crown protects and strengthens the tooth structure providing the tooth a longer life span than it would have if brought back by fillings or other types of restorations.

Crowns are full coverage restorations that are utilized to cover a tooth that is likely to break, or is too broken down to be brought back with a filling. They are most frequently done after root canal treatments, or when a large filling wears out. The bigger the hole made by a cavity that needs to be treated, the more likely a crown will be needed. Even after a filling is put in a huge cavity, a tooth is more likely to break. Keep in mind that the jaw muscles are the strongest in the body. Teeth are subjected to incredible pressures. Crowns sit over the weakened tooth, providing strength and protecting the tooth against breakage. A busted or split tooth is a far more severe matter and far more difficult to treat. Crowns prevent this, as well as making for a nice smile.

It takes two appointments to bring back a tooth with a crown. In the very first visit any decay is eliminated from the tooth and it is formed to accept the crown. Then an impression is made of the tooth for use in fabricating a crown. Between the two visits the crown is made, usually of high-strength porcelain over gold alloy, all ceramic product, or gold. A short-term crown is used during this time. In the 2nd visit this short-term crown is removed. Then the {permanent crown is adjusted as needed then cemented in place.

Exactly What Does Getting A Crown Involve?

A crown procedure usually needs 2 appointments. Your first appointment will consist of taking impressions that will be used to develop your custom-made crown. A mold will also be used to produce a temporary crown which will stay on your tooth for roughly two weeks up until your new crown is fabricated by a dental laboratory.

While the tooth is numb, the dentist will prepare the tooth by eliminating any decay and shaping the surface area to correctly fit the crown. Once these details are accomplished, your temporary crown will be placed with short-term cement and your bite will be checked to ensure you are biting properly.

At your second appointment your temporary crown will be removed, the tooth will be cleaned, and your brand-new crown will be carefully placed to make sure the spacing and bite are accurate.

You will be given care instructions and encouraged to have routine dental check ups to inspect your crown. As always, proper oral hygiene will help extend the life of your new crown.
