Today's Subject Will Be:
Teeth Whitening
Because having whiter teeth has now become the number one aesthetic concern of a lot of clients, there are numerous methods to bleach teeth. The most popular technique is using a home tooth bleaching system that will lighten teeth dramatically. Since tooth whitening just works on natural tooth enamel, it is essential to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, and so on. Replacement of any restorations will be done after bleaching so they will match the freshly bleached teeth.
Most dentists utilize numerous techniques: custom made tray lightening, professional strength white strips, and in-office lightening.
The tray method involves having impressions taken, which the laboratory produces into customized vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is placed in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The whole procedure takes about a week of everyday use. 3 various strengths of gel may be used, however, the higher the strength, the higher the likelihood of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray approach is advised for severely stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it may take a number of months of use to see considerable color improvement.
Our in-office treatment is a extremely quick and convenient whitening process. The visit is roughly one hour including both the preparation and treatment. Our clients enjoy this treatment due to the fact that it is so simple and quick!
Tooth whitening is not permanent. A touch-up may be needed once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For upkeep of whitened teeth the trays should be utilized every couple of months.
Reasons For Tooth Whitening:
- Yellow, brown stained teeth.
- Normal wear of external tooth layer.
- Florousis (excessive fluoridation during tooth development).
- Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, etc.).
