Can Same Day Crowns Benefit Me?

With this new innovation it allows dental practitioners to custom-craft restorations in as little as one hour. With this, we can fabricate natural looking crowns, onlays, inlays, and veneers right here in our office while you relax. Now, there is no longer a need to make numerous trips to the dental practitioner's office to be measured and fitted with short-term restorations - you can enjoy a brilliant, natural looking, and durable option for your missing or broken teeth today.

First, your dental practitioner will consult with you to discuss the information of the treatment. Throughout the procedure, the dentist will apply a thin layer of reflective powder onto your tooth and will use a special camera to take a photo of your tooth.

Using the brand-new software, the photo acts as a map to develop your tooth's restoration. Then, it will use a diamond bur and disk-work to develop your restoration piece from ceramic.

Lastly, the ceramic restoration is bonded to your tooth using cutting edge adhesive dentistry.

It makes your teeth tougher and more beautiful - all while keeping your teeth looking natural. The restoration is metal-free and the high-grade ceramic product is compatible with the natural tissue found in your mouth.

Dental Crowns

A crown (or cap) is a covering that covers the whole tooth surface area restoring it to its original shape and size. A crown protects and reinforces the tooth structure providing the tooth a longer life span than it would have if restored by fillings or other types of restorations.

Crowns are full coverage restorations that are utilized to cover a tooth that is most likely to break, or is too broken down to be recovered with a filling. They are most commonly done after root canal treatments, or when a big filling wears out. The larger the hole made by a cavity that has to be treated, the more likely a crown will be required. Even after a filling is put in a huge cavity, a tooth is most likely to break. Remember that the jaw muscles are the strongest in the human body. Teeth are subjected to tremendous pressures. Crowns ride over the weakened tooth, providing strength and securing the tooth against damage. A busted or cracked tooth is a much more serious matter and a lot more challenging to treat. Crowns prevent this, in addition to producing a good smile.

It takes 2 appointments to restore a tooth with a crown. In the very first appointment any decay is eliminated from the tooth and it is formed to accept the crown. Then an impression is made of the tooth for use in producing a crown. Between the two visits the crown is made, normally of high-strength porcelain over gold alloy, all ceramic material, or gold. A temporary crown is worn during this time. In the second visit this temporary crown is removed. Then the {permanent crown is adjusted as needed and then cemented in place.

Exactly What Does Getting A Crown Involve?

A crown treatment generally needs two visits. Your first visit will include taking impressions that will be utilized to create your custom-made crown. A mold will also be used to create a short-term crown which will stay on your tooth for approximately 2 weeks until your new crown is made by a dental lab.

While the tooth is numb, the dentist will prepare the tooth by eliminating any decay and shaping the surface area to effectively fit the crown. As soon as these details are accomplished, your temporary crown will be put with short-term cement and your bite will be checked to guarantee you are biting correctly.

At your second visit your short-term crown will be removed, the tooth will be cleaned, and your new crown will be thoroughly positioned to make sure the spacing and bite are precise.

You will be given care guidelines and encouraged to have routine dental check ups to inspect your crown. As always, proper oral hygiene will help extend the life of your new crown.
