Porcelain Teeth Veneers
Veneers are a very thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a gorgeous and attractive smile.
Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Just like many dental restorations, veneers might at some point require replacement; however, they are still extremely resilient and will last many years, offering you a long lasting, stunning smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is put over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy generally involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is normally referred to as bonding.
The indirect method normally involves two visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental laboratory. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab produced veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is normally less unpleasant. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care directions for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and stunning veneers.
