One Day Crowns And Teeth Restorations

Do you need to get a dental crown? Or will you soon be requiring a dental procedure that will cause you to require a dental crown? If so, you might be beginning to fear the time you will have to spend at the dentist's office. At our dental practice, we offer a excellent time-saving option for you. We offer same day crowns at our practice!

At our practice we are proud to have expert and highly-trained dentists on staff. At our dental practice we include state-of-the-art innovations and procedures to provide our clients with the best restorative, preventive, implant, and cosmetic dentistry care. For patients who need to get dental crowns, we are very happy to be able to offer same day crowns.

Crowns and caps are two different names for the same thing. A dental crown is a restoration that is normally made of porcelain. It is a strong structure that is used to cover a tooth on all four sides to help reinforce the tooth and enhance its function.

Crowns can also be used to connect bridges, as the top part of a dental implant, or to prevent a broken tooth from ending up being weaker. Crowns can also be used to strengthen a tooth after a root canal procedure.

Crowns are also used for purely aesthetic reasons, such as to cover a badly discolored tooth that has to be restored to its original, appealing look.

Usually getting a dental crown is a prolonged procedure. The dentist will have to take impressions, provide you with a short-term crown, wait for the crown to be returned from a laboratory, and then have you go back to the office so that it can be permanently connected. Today at our practice patients can get same day crowns in about two hours.

Our same day crowns are developed in our practice thanks to our CAD-CAM innovation.

CAD-CAM means "computer-aided-design-computer-aided-manufacture." Computers are used to take pictures which are then computer-analyzed and used to create a crown.

This crown is in fact milled by a computer in our office. The crown will fit your mouth exactly and get rid of any need to send impressions or photos to an outside laboratory.

All this is done while you wait, eliminating the need to return for a second appointment.

You also will not need to get a temporary crown, because our permanent crown will be instantly available to you.

If you wish to meet with our dental practitioner to find out more about same day crowns or to get a same day crown, contact our office.

Today's Subject Is:

TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint)

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint may be brought on by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are associated with the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, sometimes extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Often a plastic mouthpiece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the problem. If neglected and taken to extremes, surgery may be required to repair a terribly damaged joint.
