At our dental practice we do same day crowns. You may ask, exactly what are same day crowns and what can it do for me?

It is a 3D system that lets us make porcelain crowns and inlays all in one visit. We have actually now been using this innovation for multiple years and like it more than ever.

Same day crowns are an in-surgery computer system that permits us to replace broken or missing tooth structures with a ceramic material that's as close to a natural tooth as is possible.

This is done while you remain in the practice, in simply one appointment. All ceramic porcelain inlays and onlays, veneers and crowns that feel and look like natural teeth can be made and fitted in a single visit, usually in about an hour.

So exactly what is the procedure?

We scan the opposite teeth and the method the teeth bite together first. We remove the old filling, and degeneration and any thin weak tooth material and scan the readied tooth.

After this we quit working in the mouth and begin working with the computer.

Everyone enjoys seeing the pictures of their teeth and the developing of their new tooth. We make 3D design and this info is sent out to the milling device.

Everyone asks if this is like 3D printing and yes it is, but the tooth isn't developed layer by layer, it is cut back from a block in the machine, which is much more durable.

The block is then exactly carved to produce your brand-new restoration, which is great.

Finally, the customized crown restoration bonded seamlessly into the tooth, enhancing and sealing it at the same time then we clean up!

We need to ensure that you can bite properly, that its smooth and that you can floss.

Same Day Crown Restorations

CEREC means CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take exact digital imagery of areas requiring restoration and produce the suitable restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration finished in simply one visit. We will create and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer system milling unit right in the office. You no longer need to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the lab to fabricate your crown.

CEREC can be used in a broad range of indications: partial crowns, posterior crowns, anterior crowns, veneers, inlays, and onlays.

Today's Topic Will Be:

Temporal Mandibular Joint

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint may be brought on by a misalignment of the teeth, injury, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are involved in the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can trigger:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble or soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, often extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces in between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Often a plastic mouth piece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the problem. If untreated and required to extremes, surgery may be needed to repair a badly damaged joint.
