Temporary crowns and second visits for crowns are now normally unnecessary thanks to the same day crown technology. We provide this exciting one-visit crown innovation in our office, adding higher convenience to the procedure of getting a crown. The waiting time in between your treatment and when you get your permanent crown is eliminated.

The same day crown technology is an instrument that allows ceramic restorations (veneers, inlays, onlays, and crowns) to be carried out in one visit instead of 2. The computer coordinates with a digital camera allowing the dentist to make digital impressions without the discomfort of bulky impression material.

After taking the picture the computer takes over and mills your customized crown immediately so that we can cement your new crown that very same day. The outcomes we see are remarkable. With the same day crowns, the strength, aesthetics, and fit of the ceramic restorations are outstanding.

Today's Topic Will Be About:

Root Canal (Endodontic Treatment)

Root canal treatment (also described as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is needed when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and identify issues early). Sometimes deep restorations or trauma to a tooth may also trigger the nerve to be harmed to the point it needs root canal therapy. Once this occurs, the pulp becomes infected, and can even extend through the root tip and begin to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it needs to be treated, and can not heal by itself. It can even damage the whole immune system. This is dangerous, and may be very uncomfortable. Signs that the pulp has actually ended up being infected might include sensitivity to hot/cold or sweets, discomfort, swelling, pain to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. In some cases, however, no symptoms are apparent and the individual is unaware of any problem until a checkup.

A root canal is then performed to clean out the infected tooth pulp, and decontaminate the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to remove the tooth. Once the infection is fixed, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any further infection. Typically a core build-up and crown is recommended for bring back a tooth that has actually had root canal therapy.
