Why Pick Same Day Crowns?

It is essential for a person to have a strong and healthy set of teeth. However, there are some cases where dental cavity development is inevitable. It is typically brought on by the person's diet, habits and hygiene. Cavities that are not managed early might cause substantial damage to the tooth's enamel which might require a dental crown to restore its natural appearance and function.

A dental crown is a cap shaped like a tooth which is used to cover the tooth that has undergone substantial damage brought on by dental cavities. Getting it usually needs two dental visits. During the first visit, your broken tooth is cleaned and the decayed part is removed. The dental practitioner will then get the impression of your tooth that required the crown and will send it to a dental laboratory where traditional dental crowns were made. It could be made from a metal, ceramic or porcelain material. Only throughout the 2nd appointment, your custom-fitted dental crown is cemented to your affected tooth.

With the improvement in dental innovation, the process of getting and wearing a dental crown has actually been made readily available. Dental practitioners use the new technology in making inlays/onlays, crowns and veneers. After your broken tooth is prepared, they will use an intraoral camera that will take the picture of your affected tooth and have it uploaded to a computer. It will use a computer-aided design in taking the digital impression of your teeth and the impression is transferred to the computer-aided manufacturing machine which will mill a color-matched ceramic block to your same day crowns. Choosing a same day crown over a standard dental crown has its advantages and disadvantages.

Today Were Discussing:

Tooth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the number one aesthetic concern of a lot of patients, there are numerous methods to lighten teeth. The most popular method is using a home tooth whitening system that will bleach teeth dramatically. Because tooth lightening only works on natural tooth enamel, it is essential to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, etc. Replacement of any restorations will be done after whitening so they will match the freshly bleached teeth.

Most dentists use a number of approaches: customizeded tray whitening, professional strength white strips, and in-office whitening.

The tray approach involves having impressions taken, which the laboratory produces into custom-made vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is placed in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The entire process takes about a week of daily use. 3 different strengths of gel may be used, however, the greater the strength, the higher the probability of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray technique is advised for terribly stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it may take a number of months of use to see significant color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a extremely fast and hassle-free lightening process. The appointment is roughly one hour consisting of both the preparation and treatment. Our patients like this treatment due to the fact that it is so easy and fast!

Tooth whitening is not permanent. A touch-up may be required once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For maintenance of whitened teeth the trays should be utilized every few months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of outer tooth layer.

  • Florousis (excessive fluoridation during tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, etc.).
