Porcelain Teeth Veneers
Veneers are a very thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a beautiful and appealing smile.
Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with most dental restorations, veneers might one day need replacement; however, they are still extremely durable and will last many years, providing you a long lasting, gorgeous smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental treatment where a covering is placed over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are generally only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or smiling. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy usually involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is generally referred to as bonding.
The indirect technique typically involves 2 appointments because the veneers will be produced at a dental lab. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory produced veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is usually less unpleasant. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care guidelines for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will help in the life of your new and beautiful veneers.
