If you have a fractured or broken tooth, are experiencing discomfort when chewing or exposed to hot or cold temperatures, or want to get rid of unsightly metal crowns or fillings, then dental crowns might be an excellent alternative for you. Dental Crowns cover the visible surface area of the affected tooth, adding toughness and stability to it.

Same-day dental crowns are a choice that we provide on a case by case basis to patients who would gain from the procedure. They allow patients to come to our office and leave within a couple hours with their final dental crown in place that same day. This removes the need to have a temporary crown placed and then another check-up scheduled for the positioning of the final crown.

Our Same-Day Crowns are made with our brand-new innovation that scans the mouth to obtain the proper measurements of your tooth and surrounding teeth, and then makes your crown right there in the office. These restorations are extremely strong and long lasting and made out of the highest quality porcelain available. In some cases, a gold crown might be recommended for your posterior teeth (back teeth) if you grind or clench your teeth a lot.

Gold crowns are different from porcelain crowns, and the expense may vary between the two and you may want to discuss your budget plan as well with the your dental practitioner. Your dental practitioner will go over with you the types of crowns available and offer you a recommendation based on your specific scenario.

Call us to set up a complimentary cosmetic consultation. We look forward to meeting you.

Today's Conversation Is About:

Gum Disease (Periodontal Disease)

Gum disease is an infection of the tissues that surround and support your teeth. Due to the fact that gum disease is typically painless, you might not know you have it. Also referred to as periodontal disease, gum disease is caused by plaque, the sticky film of bacteria that is continuously forming on our teeth.

Some warning signs that may signal a problem:

  • gums that bleed easily.

  • red, inflamed, tender gums.

  • gums that have actually retreated from the teeth.

  • persistent foul breath or bad taste.

  • permanent teeth that are separating or loose.

  • any change in the way your teeth fit together when you bite.

  • any change in the fit of partial dentures.

There are numerous aspects that increase the danger of developing gum disease including smoking cigarettes, pregnancy, and diabetes. It is important to go to your dentist if you presume you have gum disease because the faster you treat it the better.

The early stage of periodontal disease is called gingivitis. If you have gingivitis, your gums may become red, inflamed and bleed easily. At this phase, the disease is still reversible and can generally be eliminated by a professional cleaning at your dental office, followed by day-to-day flossing and brushing.

Advanced gum disease is called periodontitis. Chronic periodontitis can cause the loss of bone and tissue that support the teeth and it may become more severe over time. If it does, your teeth will feel loose and begin moving around in your mouth. It normally worsens slowly, but there can be periods of fast progression.

Aggressive periodontitis is a highly damaging type of gum disease that occurs in patients who are otherwise healthy. Common features include rapid loss of bone and tissue and may happen in some areas of the mouth, or in the entire mouth.

Research between systemic diseases and gum diseases is ongoing. While a link is not conclusive, some research studies indicate that extreme gum disease may be related to a number of other health conditions such as stroke or diabetes.

Routine dental checkups and gum examinations are very important. The treatment methods that most dentists diagnose will rely on the type of disease and how far the condition has progressed. Good dental care at home is vital to help keep gum disease from becoming more severe or recurring.
