At our dental practice we do same day crowns. You may ask, exactly what are same day crowns and exactly what can it provide for me?

It is a 3D system that lets us make porcelain crowns and inlays all in one appointment. We have now been using this innovation for many years and love it more than ever.

Same day crowns are an in-surgery computer system that allows us to replace broken or missing tooth structures with a ceramic product that's as close to a natural tooth as is possible.

This is done while you remain in the practice, in simply one appointment. All ceramic porcelain inlays and onlays, veneers and crowns that look like natural teeth can be made and fitted in a single appointment, usually in about an hour.

So exactly what is the treatment?

We scan the opposite teeth and the method the teeth bite together first. We eliminate the old filling, and decay and any thin weak tooth product and scan the prepared tooth.

After this we quit working in the mouth and begin working with the computer.

Everybody likes seeing the pictures of their teeth and the designing of their brand-new tooth. We make 3D design and this information is sent to the milling unit.

Everybody asks if this is like 3D printing and yes it is, but the tooth is not developed layer by layer, it is cut from a block in the device, which is much stronger.

The block is then exactly carved to produce your brand-new restoration, which is great.

Finally, the custom made crown restoration bonded seamlessly into the tooth, enhancing and sealing it at the same time and after that we tidy up!

We need to ensure that you can bite properly, that its smooth and that you can floss.

Today's Topic Will Be About:

Fillings

Fillings are done to remove decay, and replace the afflicted tooth structure. It is called a filling since brand-new material fills the hole that the decay left. Now days most teeth are treated with bonded tooth colored composite resin fillings. Caught early enough, cavities can be treated easily and painlessly. If not treated, decay can cause tooth discomfort and/or infection, and the tooth would need a root canal treatment or extraction.

There are 2 types of fillings; amalgam or silver fillings, and composite or white fillings. Composite fillings are tooth-colored to blend in with the remaining natural part of the tooth. Most dentists offer both types of fillings, however find that many of their clients choose the composite fillings.

The term composite refers to the actual filling material which is a mix of glass or quartz filler in a resin medium.

Composite fillings supply excellent sturdiness and resistance to fracture in small-to-mid size restorations that have to withstand moderate chewing pressure. Less tooth structure is eliminated when the dental practitioner prepares the tooth, and this may lead to a smaller sized filling than with of an amalgam.

In addition, composites are "bonded", or adhesively connected, to the tooth, often enabling a more conservative repair for the tooth. Composite fillings require that the tooth be kept clean and dry throughout the whole filling process and they go through stain and staining with time. The life span of a white filling can depend considerably on where it is in your mouth and how heavily your teeth come together when you bite.

Composite filling material is also frequently used to repair front teeth that have cracked or worn. Where possible, esthetic bonding of composite material to front teeth is typically much cheaper than veneers or crowns. However, bonding normally does not last as long as veneers or crowns.
