Single Visit Crowns - A Smart Technology

We aim to stay current with the multitude of technological advances that are happening in dentistry. We are proud to have the same day crown innovation in our office. It allows us to create crowns and bigger restorations in our office. Same day crowns use the most innovative dental technology, consisting of 3D video imaging and CAD/CAM technology. In layman's terms, it is a computer-designed restoration for your tooth. The entire treatment takes between 1-2 hours and can be finished in one sitting.

Normally, a crown in the past would have needed 2 appointments. The first visit consists of preparing the tooth, taking the mold, and fitting a temporary crown. During the 2nd visit, the temporary crown is replaced with the long-term one. With a same day crown, the whole treatment can be completed in just one appointment. We will use video imaging technology to tke a picture of the tooth and use CAD/CAM innovation to design the crown. This 3D design is wirelessly transferred to a milling device that sculpts the restoration from a vacuum formed ceramic block. We will then adhere the new crown to your tooth. This removes the need to wear a short-term in addition to a second appointment.

Restorative dentistry procedures can be crucial to the overall health of your teeth and mouth. Please call our office and request a consultation.

Same Day Teeth Restorations

CEREC stands for CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take exact digital images of areas requiring restoration and produce the appropriate restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration completed in just one visit. We will design and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer system milling unit right in the office. You no longer need to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the lab to produce your crown.

CEREC can be used for a broad scope of indications: anterior crowns, veneers, inlays, onlays, partial crowns and posterior crowns.

Today's Topic Will Be About:

TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint)

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint may be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, injury, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are associated with the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, often extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces in between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Often a plastic mouthpiece is utilized to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the problem. If unattended and taken to extremes, surgery might be required to repair a severely damaged joint.
