If you have a fractured or busted tooth, are experiencing pain when chewing or exposed to hot or cold temperatures, or want to remove unattractive metal crowns or fillings, then dental crowns might be a great option for you. Dental Crowns cover the visible surface area of the affected tooth, adding resilience and stability to it.

Same-day dental crowns are an option that we provide on a case by case basis to clients who would gain from the procedure. They enable patients to come to our office and leave within a couple hours with their permanent dental crown in place that same day. This eliminates the need to have a short-term crown placed and then another visit scheduled for the placement of the final crown.

Our Same-Day Crowns are made with our new technology that scans the mouth to obtain the proper measurements of your tooth and surrounding teeth, then makes your crown right there in the office. These restorations are very strong and durable and constructed of the highest quality porcelain available. In many cases, a gold crown might be suggested for your posterior teeth (back teeth) if you grind or clinch your teeth a lot.

Gold crowns are different from porcelain crowns, and the expense may differ between the two and you may want to discuss your budget too with the your dentist. Your dentist will go over with you the types of crowns available and offer you a suggestion based upon your certain situation.

Call us to schedule a complimentary cosmetic consultation. We look forward to talking to you.

Temporal-Mandibular Joint

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint might be triggered by a misalignment of the teeth, injury, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are associated with the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, in some cases extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Sometimes a plastic mouth piece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the issue. If unattended and taken to extremes, surgery might be needed to fix a severely damaged joint.
