Today's Topic Will Be:

Porcelain Teeth Veneers

Veneers are a very thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a stunning and appealing smile.

Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.

Just like most dental restorations, veneers may one day need replacement; however, they are still really long lasting and will last years, offering you a long lasting, beautiful smile.

How Are Veneers Applied?

Veneers are a dental treatment where a covering is put over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are generally only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.

The direct strategy normally involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is normally referred to as bonding.

The indirect strategy generally involves two visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental lab. At the first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab produced veneers are normally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.

The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is usually less unpleasant. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.

You will get care guidelines for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and gorgeous veneers.
