Porcelain Tooth Veneers
Veneers are a very thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a lovely and attractive smile.
Veneers can entirely improve your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to the majority of dental restorations, veneers may someday require replacement; however, they are still extremely durable and will last many years, giving you a long lasting, lovely smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is placed over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or smiling. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy typically involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect technique generally involves two appointments because the veneers will be produced at a dental laboratory. At the first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab made veneers are generally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is normally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care directions for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and gorgeous veneers.
