Exactly What Are The Benefits Of Same Day Crowns?

There are multiple benefits to having treatment with same day crowns over conventional, laboratory-made restorations.

  • Everything is performed in a single appointment, you just have to visit the dental practitioner one time, take one day away from your routine to have the procedure, instead of the typical two or 3 appointments.

  • Only one anesthetic injections, because the whole treatment can be carried out within an hour you only have to have one injection.

  • Your dentist remains in complete control of the final outcome, since the crown or inlay are designed and made from start to finish by your dental practitioner, they have overall control over how it will look and fit.

  • No temporary restorations, which can frequently fall off between appointments if they are not looked after properly.

Today's Conversation Will Be About:

Fillings

Fillings are done to remove decay, and replace the afflicted tooth structure. It is called a filling since brand-new material fills the hole that the decay left. Now days most teeth are treated with bonded tooth colored composite resin fillings. Caught early enough, cavities can be treated easily and painlessly. If not treated, decay can cause tooth discomfort and/or infection, and the tooth would need a root canal treatment or extraction.

There are 2 kinds of fillings; amalgam or silver fillings, and composite or white fillings. Composite fillings are tooth-colored to blend in with the remaining natural part of the tooth. Most dentists offer both types of fillings, but find that a number of their clients prefer the composite fillings.

The term composite refers to the actual filling material which is a mix of glass or quartz filler in a resin medium.

Composite fillings offer excellent resilience and resistance to fracture in small-to-mid size restorations that have to withstand moderate chewing pressure. Less tooth structure is removed when the dental practitioner prepares the tooth, and this might result in a smaller sized filling than with of an amalgam.

In addition, composites are "bonded", or adhesively attached, to the tooth, frequently enabling a more conservative repair for the tooth. Composite fillings require that the tooth be kept clean and dry throughout the whole filling procedure and they go through stain and staining in time. The life expectancy of a white filling can depend considerably on where it is in your mouth and how heavily your teeth come together when you bite.

Composite filling material is also frequently used to repair front teeth that have chipped or worn. Where possible, esthetic bonding of composite material to front teeth is typically much less expensive than veneers or crowns. However, bonding usually does not last as long as veneers or crowns.
