Why Choose Same Day Crowns?

It is crucial for a individual to have a strong and healthy set of teeth. However, there are some cases where dental cavity formation is inevitable. It is often triggered by the person's diet, habits and hygiene. Cavities that are not managed early might cause extensive damage to the tooth's enamel which might need a dental crown to restore its natural look and function.

A dental crown is a cap shaped like a tooth which is used to cover the tooth that has gone through extensive damage brought on by dental cavities. Getting it generally requires 2 dental visits. During the first visit, your broken tooth is cleaned up and the decayed part is removed. The dental practitioner will then get the impression of your tooth that required the crown and will send it to a dental laboratory where traditional dental crowns were made. It could be made from a metal, ceramic or porcelain material. Only throughout the second appointment, your custom-fitted dental crown is cemented to your broken tooth.

With the advancement in dental technology, the procedure of getting and wearing a dental crown has been made easily available. Dental practitioners use the new technology in making inlays/onlays, crowns and veneers. After your damaged tooth is prepared, they will use an intraoral camera that will take the picture of your broken tooth and have it uploaded to a computer. It will use a computer-aided design in taking the digital impression of your teeth and the impression is sent to the computer-aided manufacturing device which will mill a color-matched ceramic block to your same day crowns. Choosing a same day crown over a standard dental crown has its advantages and disadvantages.

Today We Will Be Discussing:

Tooth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the number one aesthetic concern of a lot of patients, there are a number of methods to lighten teeth. The most popular technique is utilizing a home tooth bleaching system that will lighten teeth significantly. Since tooth whitening just works on natural tooth enamel, it is necessary to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, and so on. Replacement of any restorations will be done after whitening so they will match the recently bleached teeth.

Most dentists use numerous techniques: customizeded tray lightening, professional strength white strips, and in-office whitening.

The tray approach involves having impressions taken, which the laboratory fabricates into custom-made vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is put in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The entire procedure takes about a week of day-to-day use. Three different strengths of gel may be utilized, however, the higher the strength, the greater the likelihood of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray technique is advised for severely stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it may take multiple months of use to see considerable color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a extremely quick and convenient lightening procedure. The visit is around one hour consisting of both the preparation and treatment. Our patients like this treatment due to the fact that it is so easy and fast!

Tooth lightening is not permanent. A touch-up may be needed once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For maintenance of whitened teeth the trays need to be utilized every couple of months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of outer tooth layer.

  • Florousis (extreme fluoridation during tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, etc.).
