Teeth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a very thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a beautiful and attractive smile.
Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to a lot of dental restorations, veneers might someday need replacement; however, they are still extremely resilient and will last multiple years, providing you a long lasting, lovely smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental treatment where a covering is positioned over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are normally only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy typically involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is typically referred to as bonding.
The indirect method usually involves two visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental laboratory. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory produced veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is usually less uncomfortable. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care directions for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will help in the life of your new and gorgeous veneers.
