The Advantages Of Getting A Same Day Crown

Crowns are a typical dental treatment that is frequently required when someone's tooth is broken or if the tooth has deteriorated to the point where a filling will not be effective.

Common crowns are relatively bothersome to obtain, however there is an alternative. Same-day crowns are a great choice since they are easier and result in less discomfort:

Less Pain

A standard crown can lead to discomfort for a few reasons, however among the most significant sources of discomfort and pain is an outcome of having to get a short-term crown.

A short-term crown is applied as a placeholder to safeguard your exposed tooth up until your long-term crown can be provided to your dental practitioner. This can take anywhere from a couple of days to a few weeks.

The issue with a temporary crown is that they are not really strong, which means that they can break or come loose extremely quickly.

A broken or loose temporary crown will expose your tooth to liquids and food, both which can cause quite a bit of pain if they reach the exposed nerves below the temporary crown.

Another source of discomfort originates from a loose crown rubbing along your gums. This rubbing can get to the point where it can get rather painful and start to bleed, which also opens the course for possible infections.

Fortunately, a same-day crown will supply you with a long-term crown at the end of your first visit to the dental practitioner.

This eliminates the need for a short-term crown, thus enabling you to prevent all the discomfort and pain.

Makes Sense

A conventional crown is not a very practical treatment to have performed, primarily since it typically takes a minimum of two visits to complete.

If your temporary crown is broken or falls off, which is common, you will have to make another visit to have it replaced. This can be a big problem if you have a busy schedule on your hands, or if you have a job that prevents taking time off in the middle of a busy work day.

However, a same-day crown can be completed in a single day, with a single appointment. This is enabled since lots of dentists will acquire the equipment to make their own crowns, instead of having to order crowns from a dental lab.

This lets you avoid the hassle of needing to possibly invest weeks and several appointments to your dentist before the procedure is over and finished with.

Talk to your dental practitioner and inquire about the advantages offered by a same-day crown. A same-day crown can provide you with a hassle-free and relatively pain-free alternative to a standard crown.

Today's Topic Will Be:

Tooth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the number one aesthetic concern of many patients, there are a number of methods to lighten teeth. The most popular method is utilizing a home tooth whitening system that will lighten teeth dramatically. Because tooth lightening only works on natural tooth enamel, it is very important to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, etc. Replacement of any restorations will be done after lightening so they will match the freshly bleached teeth.

Most dentists use multiple techniques: customizeded tray lightening, professional strength white strips, and in-office lightening.

The tray technique involves having impressions taken, which the lab fabricates into custom-made vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is put in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The entire procedure takes about a week of everyday use. 3 different strengths of gel may be used, however, the higher the strength, the higher the probability of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray approach is suggested for severely stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it might take numerous months of use to see substantial color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a very fast and convenient lightening procedure. The visit is approximately one hour including both the preparation and treatment. Our clients like this treatment due to the fact that it is so easy and fast!

Tooth lightening is not permanent. A touch-up might be needed once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For maintenance of whitened teeth the trays must be utilized every couple of months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of external tooth layer.

  • Florousis (extreme fluoridation throughout tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, and so on).
