Today We Will Be Going Over:

Tooth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the primary aesthetic concern of a lot of clients, there are a number of ways to whiten teeth. The most popular method is utilizing a home tooth lightening system that will bleach teeth significantly. Since tooth bleaching just works on natural tooth enamel, it is essential to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, etc. Replacement of any restorations will be done after whitening so they will match the freshly bleached teeth.

Most dentists use multiple techniques: customizeded tray lightening, professional strength white strips, and in-office whitening.

The tray technique involves having impressions taken, which the lab produces into custom-made vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is placed in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The whole process takes about a week of day-to-day use. 3 various strengths of gel may be utilized, however, the greater the strength, the higher the likelihood of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray technique is suggested for terribly stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it may take numerous months of use to see substantial color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a very fast and hassle-free whitening process. The visit is roughly one hour consisting of both the preparation and treatment. Our clients like this treatment due to the fact that it is so easy and quick!

Tooth bleaching is not permanent. A touch-up might be required once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For upkeep of whitened teeth the trays must be utilized every couple of months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of outer tooth layer.

  • Florousis (extreme fluoridation during tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, etc.).
