Typically, getting a crown for a broken or degrading tooth is a long procedure that includes numerous steps and potentially several days of wait time before you get your new tooth.

A same day crown makes it possible for you to walk in to see a dental practitioner and walk out with your new tooth already in place. If you have a dentist offering same day crowns and are anticipating your visit, it is most likely that you will have some concerns about the process.

Here are a few of the biggest concerns about same day crowns and the answers you will need to know.

How is a same day crown any different from a regular dental crown?

The reality is, there is not a great deal of difference in the process to get a same day crown.

The only distinction is that you will not be sent home to wait for your long-term crown to be produced by a dental laboratory, as the crown will be made in the dental office while you are there.

This removed the lengthy procedure of being fitted with a temporary crown and then later refitted with the permanent crown when it is finished.

How is it possible for a dental practitioner to develop a long-term crown during your appointment?

With advancements in dental technology, if a dentist has the ideal devices in the office, along with the best skill, they can produce the new tooth from a strong piece of ceramic while you wait. This occurs using a machine that takes the direct measurement of the mouth and existing teeth and transforms it into an actual prosthetic from the ceramic using accurate computer technology.

Besides the evident advantage of less time to finish, what are the advantages of same day crowns?

Same day crowns permits you to skip the whole step of a temporary crown, which can be a pain to take care of and might be prone to removing with simple oral hygiene, such as flossing and brushing.

Since whole steps are eliminated from the crowning procedure, such as multiple dental appointments, you might even save some money to have a brand-new same day crown put on.

To walk into a dentist office and walk out with a new crown in one visit is an ideal and sensible option for patients who need help with a damaged tooth.

Talk with your dentist to find out more about same day crowns.

Today's Topic Will Be:

Digital X-Rays

X-rays are a primary tool for early identification of dental issues.

Identifying problems with x-rays before they end up being problems can save you money in the long run by preventing the requirement for more extensive, costly procedures or surgeries. X-rays are mostly used to detect:

  • Cysts (fluid filled sacks at the base of your teeth).

  • Impacted teeth.

  • Teeth that are still coming in.

  • Tumors, both cancerous and non-cancerous.

  • Internal tooth decay.

Most dentists use digital x-rays, which have a number of advantages over traditional film based x-rays. Digital x-rays allow us to take x-rays with 1/5 of the radiation that you would receive from conventional dental x-rays. The concern of exposure to excess radiation is removed.

Big on-screen X-rays make patient communication more efficient. The instant observation of the images on the screen enables us to discuss your dental health quickly and accurately.

Digital radiography has greatly enhanced the practice of dentistry. It enables the client and the doctor to see images of the teeth in greater resolution on a large format for much easier detection of issues, all while decreasing the radiation exposure to the client. The process we use further defines the radiograph, leading to clinically meaningful images that are sharp, detailed and rich in contrast.

Images are available immediately after exposure, eliminating the wait and effort spent developing and mounting x-rays. If an image has to be retaken, it can be done immediately. Digital format also enables us to send and receive your images digitally for consultation that can be provided to you rapidly.
