Teeth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a very thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a lovely and appealing smile.
Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with a lot of dental restorations, veneers might one day need replacement; however, they are still very durable and will last multiple years, offering you a long lasting, stunning smile.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneers are a dental treatment where a covering is put over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are generally only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy normally involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is typically referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy typically involves 2 visits because the veneers will be made at a dental laboratory. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory made veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is usually less unpleasant. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care directions for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and gorgeous veneers.
