Obtain A Perfect Smile With Same Day Crowns

Same Day Crowns attend to aesthetic needs, restore tooth function, and enhance the overall health of your mouth. In cases where teeth have large broken down fillings, a crown can secure and maintain the rest of the natural tooth.

To boost your smile, a metal-free, tooth-colored same day crown can also replace an older metal or porcelain crown. Following root canal therapy, a crown is normally positioned over the remaining tooth structure to preserve aesthetic and tooth function.

Today's Discussion Is About:

Dental Crowns

A crown (or cap) is a covering that covers the entire tooth surface restoring it to its initial sizes and shape. A crown protects and reinforces the tooth structure providing the tooth a longer life span than it would have if restored by fillings or other kinds of restorations.

Crowns are full coverage restorations that are used to cover a tooth that is likely to break, or is too broken down to be recovered with a filling. They are most frequently done after root canal treatments, or when a large filling breaks. The bigger the hole made by a cavity that needs to be treated, the more likely a crown will be needed. Even after a filling is put in a huge cavity, a tooth is most likely to break. Keep in mind that the jaw muscles are the strongest in the human body. Teeth undergo tremendous pressures. Crowns ride over the weakened tooth, offering strength and protecting the tooth against breakage. A busted or split tooth is a far more serious matter and much more hard to treat. Crowns prevent this, as well as producing a good smile.

It takes 2 appointments to recover a tooth with a crown. In the first visit any decay is eliminated from the tooth and it is formed to accept the crown. Then an impression is made of the tooth for use in fabricating a crown. Between the two visits the crown is made, normally of high-strength porcelain over gold alloy, all ceramic material, or gold. A short-term crown is worn throughout this time. In the 2nd visit this temporary crown is removed. Then the {permanent crown is adjusted as needed and after that cemented in place.

Exactly What Does Getting A Crown Include?

A crown treatment generally needs 2 visits. Your very first visit will consist of taking impressions that will be used to develop your custom crown. A mold will also be utilized to develop a short-term crown which will remain on your tooth for approximately 2 weeks till your brand-new crown is produced by a dental laboratory.

While the tooth is numb, the dentist will prepare the tooth by getting rid of any decay and forming the surface to effectively fit the crown. Once these details are achieved, your short-term crown will be put with short-term cement and your bite will be inspected to ensure you are biting properly.

At your second appointment your temporary crown will be removed, the tooth will be cleaned, and your new crown will be carefully placed to make sure the spacing and bite are precise.

You will be given care directions and encouraged to have regular dental visits to examine your crown. As always, appropriate oral hygiene will help extend the life of your new crown.
