Porcelain Veneers (Tooth)
Veneers are a very thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a beautiful and appealing smile.
Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the ideal option in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to the majority of dental restorations, veneers might at some point require replacement; however, they are still very long lasting and will last years, giving you a long lasting, stunning smile.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneers are a dental treatment where a covering is positioned over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are generally only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct technique usually involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy normally involves two appointments because the veneers will be produced at a dental lab. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab produced veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the procedure is typically less uncomfortable. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care guidelines for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new and lovely veneers.
