If you have a fractured or busted tooth, are experiencing pain when chewing or exposed to hot or cold temperatures, or wish to remove unsightly metal crowns or fillings, then dental crowns might be an excellent choice for you. Dental Crowns cover the outter surface area of the affected tooth, adding toughness and stability to it.

Same-day dental crowns are a choice that we provide on a case by case basis to patients who would benefit from the procedure. They allow patients to come to our office and leave within a couple hours with their final dental crown in place that same day. This gets rid of the need to have a temporary crown placed then another check-up set up for the placement of the permanent crown.

Our Same-Day Crowns are made with our new technology that scans the mouth to get the proper measurements of your tooth and surrounding teeth, then makes your crown right there in the office. These restorations are really strong and long lasting and made out of the highest quality porcelain available. In some cases, a gold crown might be recommended for your posterior teeth (back teeth) if you grind or clench your teeth a lot.

Gold crowns are different from porcelain crowns, and the expense may vary between the two and you might want to discuss your budget plan too with the your dental practitioner. Your dental practitioner will go over with you the kinds of crowns available and offer you a recommendation based upon your certain circumstance.

Call us to schedule a complimentary cosmetic consultation. We look forward to meeting you.

Today's Topic Will Be:

Tooth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the primary aesthetic concern of many patients, there are a number of methods to lighten teeth. The most popular method is using a home tooth whitening system that will lighten teeth considerably. Because tooth bleaching only works on natural tooth enamel, it is essential to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, and so on. Replacement of any restorations will be done after whitening so they will match the recently bleached teeth.

Most dentists utilize multiple techniques: custom made tray bleaching, professional strength white strips, and in-office lightening.

The tray technique involves having impressions taken, which the lab produces into custom-made vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is placed in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The whole process takes about a week of everyday use. 3 different strengths of gel may be used, however, the greater the strength, the greater the possibility of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray approach is recommended for severely stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it might take multiple months of use to see significant color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a really quick and hassle-free bleaching procedure. The visit is roughly one hour including both the preparation and treatment. Our patients enjoy this treatment due to the fact that it is so simple and quick!

Tooth whitening is not permanent. A touch-up might be needed once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For upkeep of whitened teeth the trays should be utilized every couple of months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of outer tooth layer.

  • Florousis (excessive fluoridation during tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, etc.).
