DENTIST IMPLANTS IN A DAY
ALEXANDRIA VA

Updated On Friday, February 22, 2019 07:07:44 AM

Our practice loves new innovations, especially when it enhances the dental care that we can supply to our clients. Because of this we now provide same day crowns.

Same day crowns are a remarkable new innovation where lovely all porcelain crowns are created within two hours of the preparation of a tooth for a crown. The old process was where the dentist prepared your tooth for a crown, took an impression and sent this impression to a laboratory to get the crown constructed. Throughout this time the patient would need to have a short-term plastic crown that was always uncomfy.

Today, our devices enables us to scan the tooth preparation and mill out a new all porcelain crown within 2 hours. This means that the client leaves our office with the permanent crown that day!

  • There's no need to wear a short-term crown for two to three weeks.

  • There is no need to return once more to have the single visit crown placed on your tooth.

  • There is no need to be numbed again! No more shots!

Our practice prefers same day crowns due to the fact that it is made of beautiful material as well as exceptionally durable.

If your interested in a same day crown, please give our practice a call.

Today's Topic Will Be About:

Teeth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the primary aesthetic concern of most clients, there are a number of ways to bleach teeth. The most popular method is utilizing a home tooth lightening system that will bleach teeth considerably. Because tooth whitening only works on natural tooth enamel, it is very important to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, etc. Replacement of any restorations will be done after lightening so they will match the freshly bleached teeth.

Most dentists use a number of methods: custom made tray whitening, professional strength white strips, and in-office lightening.

The tray method involves having impressions taken, which the lab fabricates into custom-made vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is placed in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The whole procedure takes about a week of daily use. Three different strengths of gel may be used, however, the higher the strength, the greater the likelihood of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray method is suggested for severely stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it may take a number of months of use to see significant color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a extremely quick and practical whitening procedure. The visit is around one hour including both the preparation and treatment. Our patients love this treatment since it is so easy and fast!

Tooth bleaching is not permanent. A touch-up might be needed once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For upkeep of whitened teeth the trays ought to be utilized every couple of months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of outer tooth layer.

  • Florousis (extreme fluoridation throughout tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, etc.).
