2 Benefits Provided By Same Day Crowns

Crowns can typically be a bit of a headache to get, primarily since standard crowns will typically require numerous appointments before the treatment is actually finished.

Nevertheless, many dentists have actually opted to purchase the essential tools to produce same day crowns within their offices.

Listed below are just 2 of the great advantages provided by going with a same day crown:

It Is Convenient
Searching for time to obtain a standard crown can be more than a bit challenging for anyone that has a hectic work or home life.

It can be very hard to persuade your employer let you take time off in the middle of the work day at least two times in the space of a few weeks to complete the process.

This is necessary for a crown treatment as you will have to see the dental practitioner to have your tooth prepared for the crown and then go in once again a week or more later in order to have the final crown used.

However, you do not need to fret about requesting time off multiple times or to find a babysitter for your kids more than once throughout a same day crown treatment.

Because the dental practitioner can fabricate your crown in the office, she or he can usually use the long-term crown as soon as your tooth is treated and shaped for the crown.

This is excellent as you will not have to run the risk of troubling your boss, coworkers, babysitter, or family.

They Are More Comfortable

Another reason to think about a same day crown is simply because it can be quite a bit less agonizing than a standard crown procedure.

This is because the fact that you do not have to wait several days or weeks between steps in the crown procedure entirely negates the need for a temporary crown.

Short-term crowns are used to protect your tooth after your initial appointment until your final crown arrives and is put on.

Unfortunately, temporary crowns will typically not fit all that well which can result in liquids and food getting under it and reaching your exposed nerves and causing pain.

In addition, an ill-fitting short-term crown is going to be prone to shifting around. This moving can cause the short-term crown to scratch your gums or the inside of your cheeks.

Sure, this type of crown is only meant to be used for a short period of time, but it can be rather miserable for that brief period of time.

Today Were Discussing:

Root Canal

Root canal treatment (also described as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is essential when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and find problems early). Sometimes deep restorations or trauma to a tooth may also cause the nerve to be harmed to the point it needs root canal treatment. When this takes place, the pulp ends up being infected, and can even extend through the root tip and begin to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it must be treated, and can not recover by itself. It can even weaken the whole immune system. This is dangerous, and may be very uncomfortable. Symptoms that the pulp has become infected may include sensitivity to hot/cold or sugary foods, pain, swelling, discomfort to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. In some cases, however, no signs appear and the person is unaware of any issue up until a checkup.

A root canal is then performed to clear out the infected tooth pulp, and sanitize the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to remove the tooth. Once the infection is dealt with, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any further infection. Typically a core build-up and crown is suggested for restoring a tooth that has had root canal therapy.
