DAY DENTAL

Updated On Tuesday, November 20, 2018 02:27:39 PM

Our practice loves brand-new innovations, specifically when it improves the dental care that we can offer to our patients. Because of this we now provide same day crowns.

Same day crowns are a remarkable brand-new technology where beautiful all porcelain crowns are developed within two hours of the prep work of a tooth for a crown. The old process was where the dental practitioner prepared your tooth for a crown, took an impression and sent this impression to a lab to get the crown constructed. During this time the patient would have to have a temporary plastic crown that was always uncomfortable.

Today, our devices permits us to scan the tooth preparation and mill out a new all porcelain crown within 2 hours. This means that the patient leaves our office with the permanent crown that day!

  • There's no need to wear a temporary crown for 2 to 3 weeks.

  • There's no need to return once again to have the single visit crown inserted on your tooth.

  • There is no need to be numbed once again! No more shot needles!

Our office chooses same day crowns due to the fact that it is made of beautiful material and also exceptionally durable.

If your interested in a same day crown, please give our office a call.

Today's Discussion Has To Do With:

Root Canal (Endodontic Treatment)

Root canal treatment (also described as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is essential when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and find problems early). In some cases deep restorations or trauma to a tooth might also trigger the nerve to be harmed to the point it needs root canal treatment. When this occurs, the pulp ends up being infected, and can even extend through the root tip and start to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it has to be treated, and can not heal on its own. It can even damage the entire immune system. This is dangerous, and may be very unpleasant. Signs that the pulp has actually become infected may consist of sensitivity to hot/cold or sweets, pain, swelling, pain to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. In some cases, however, no symptoms are apparent and the person is unaware of any problem till a checkup.

A root canal is then performed to clear out the infected tooth pulp, and sanitize the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to extract the tooth. When the infection is resolved, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any more infection. Generally a core build-up and crown is suggested for bring back a tooth that has had root canal treatment.
