Porcelain Veneers (Tooth)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a beautiful and attractive smile.
Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to the majority of dental restorations, veneers may one day require replacement; however, they are still very resilient and will last many years, giving you a long lasting, beautiful smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is positioned over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are normally only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct technique generally involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is normally referred to as bonding.
The indirect technique typically involves two visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental laboratory. At the very first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory fabricated veneers are generally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is usually less unpleasant. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care guidelines for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your new and beautiful veneers.
