Exactly What Is A Dental Crown?

A crown is a cap made to cover a tooth with the function of restoring it to its natural size and shape or to enhance its appearance. To get ready for the crown, dentists drill to eliminate the decayed area and also form the tooth to get ready for the crown for that part which lies around and above the gum line.

Today's Subject Will Be:

Teeth Veneers (Porcelain)

Veneers are a very thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a gorgeous and appealing smile.

Veneers can entirely improve your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.

As with most dental restorations, veneers might at some point need replacement; however, they are still extremely durable and will last many years, offering you a long lasting, beautiful smile.

How Are Veneers Placed?

Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is placed over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are normally only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.

The direct strategy normally involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is usually referred to as bonding.

The indirect method typically involves two visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental laboratory. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory produced veneers are normally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.

The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is normally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.

You will receive care directions for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will help in the life of your new and gorgeous veneers.
