Porcelain Tooth Veneers
Veneers are a very thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a gorgeous and attractive smile.
Veneers can entirely reshape your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to a lot of dental restorations, veneers might someday need replacement; however, they are still really resilient and will last many years, giving you a long lasting, gorgeous smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental treatment in which a covering is put over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct method typically involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is generally referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy normally involves two visits because the veneers will be made at a dental lab. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory made veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the procedure is typically less uncomfortable. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care instructions for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will help in the life of your new and gorgeous veneers.
