At our dental practice we do same day crowns. You may ask, exactly what are same day crowns and what can it provide for me?

It is a 3D system that lets us make porcelain crowns and inlays all in one visit. We have actually now been using this technology for many years and like it more than ever.

Same day crowns are an in-surgery computer system that allows us to replace damaged or missing tooth structures with a ceramic material that's as close to a natural tooth as is possible.

This is done while you remain in the practice, in simply one visit. All ceramic porcelain inlays and onlays, veneers and crowns that look and feel like natural teeth can be made and fitted in a single appointment, usually in about an hour.

So exactly what is the procedure?

We scan the opposite teeth and the way the teeth bite together first. We remove the old filling, and degeneration and any thin weak tooth product and scan the readied tooth.

After this we stop working in the mouth and begin working on the computer.

Everyone likes seeing the pictures of their teeth and the designing of their brand-new tooth. We make 3D design and this info is sent to the milling system.

Everyone asks if this is like 3D printing and yes it is, but the tooth is not built up layer by layer, it is cut from a block in the device, which is much stronger.

The block is then exactly carved to produce your brand-new restoration, which is wonderful.

Finally, the custom made crown restoration bonded perfectly into the tooth, strengthening and sealing it at the same time and then we clean up!

We need to make certain that you can bite properly, that its smooth and that you can floss.

Today's Subject Is:

Tooth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the primary aesthetic concern of many clients, there are a number of methods to bleach teeth. The most popular method is using a home tooth lightening system that will lighten teeth considerably. Since tooth lightening just works on natural tooth enamel, it is essential to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, and so on. Replacement of any restorations will be done after whitening so they will match the freshly bleached teeth.

Most dentists utilize numerous approaches: custom made tray lightening, professional strength white strips, and in-office lightening.

The tray technique involves having impressions taken, which the laboratory makes into custom-made vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is placed in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The whole process takes about a week of day-to-day use. Three different strengths of gel might be used, however, the greater the strength, the higher the probability of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray technique is suggested for severely stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it may take numerous months of use to see considerable color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a very fast and hassle-free lightening procedure. The visit is around one hour including both the preparation and treatment. Our patients love this treatment due to the fact that it is so simple and quick!

Tooth bleaching is not permanent. A touch-up might be needed once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For maintenance of whitened teeth the trays need to be used every few months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of external tooth layer.

  • Florousis (extreme fluoridation throughout tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, and so on).
