One Day Crowns And Teeth Restorations

Do you need to get a dental crown? Or will you quickly be requiring a dental procedure that will cause you to need a dental crown? If so, you might be beginning to fear the time you will need to spend at the dental practitioner's office. At our dental practice, we provide a fantastic time-saving option for you. We provide same day crowns at our practice!

At our practice we are proud to have expert and highly-trained dentists on staff. At our dental practice we include advanced innovations and procedures to provide our patients with the best restorative, precautionary, implant, and cosmetic dentistry care. For patients who have to get dental crowns, we are really pleased to be able to provide same day crowns.

Crowns and caps are two different names for the same thing. A dental crown is a restoration that is usually made of porcelain. It is a strong structure that is used to cover a tooth on all 4 sides to help strengthen the tooth and improve its function.

Crowns can also be used to connect bridges, as the top portion of a dental implant, or to prevent a broken tooth from becoming weaker. Crowns can also be used to enhance a tooth after a root canal procedure.

Crowns are also used for purely aesthetic reasons, such as to cover a seriously tarnished tooth that needs to be restored to its original, appealing appearance.

Normally getting a dental crown is a prolonged treatment. The dental practitioner will have to take impressions, provide you with a short-term crown, await the crown to be returned from a laboratory, and then have you return to the office so that it can be permanently connected. Today at our practice patients can get same day crowns in about 2 hours.

Our same day crowns are developed in our practice thanks to our CAD-CAM innovation.

CAD-CAM represents "computer-aided-design-computer-aided-manufacture." Computers are used to take images which are then computer-analyzed and used to create a crown.

This crown is in fact milled by a computer in our office. The crown will fit your mouth precisely and eliminate any need to send impressions or photos to an outside laboratory.

All this is done while you wait, removing the need to come back for a second visit.

You also will not have to get a temporary crown, given that our long-term crown will be immediately available to you.

If you would like to meet our dental practitioner to find out more about same day crowns or to get a same day crown, call our practice.

Same Day Teeth Restorations

CEREC stands for CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take precise digital imagery of locations needing restoration and produce the appropriate restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration completed in simply one visit. We will develop and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer milling unit right in the office. You no longer need to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the lab to fabricate your crown.

CEREC can be used in a wide scope of indications: posterior crowns, anterior crowns, veneers, inlays, onlays and partial crowns.

Today's Topic Is:

TMJ (Temporal-Mandibular Joint)

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint may be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, injury, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are associated with the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can trigger:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, sometimes extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Often a plastic mouth piece is utilized to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the problem. If neglected and required to extremes, surgery might be needed to fix a terribly damaged joint.
