Same Day Dental Crowns With Advanced Technology

We aim to stay current with the multitude of technological advances that are happening in dentistry. We are proud to have the same day crown technology in our office. It enables us to develop crowns and larger restorations in our office. Same day crowns use the most sophisticated dental innovation, consisting of 3D video imaging and CAD/CAM technology. In layman's terms, it is a computer-designed restoration for your tooth. The whole procedure takes between 1-2 hours and can be completed in one sitting.

Generally, a crown in the past would have required 2 visits. The first visit consists of preparing the tooth, taking the mold, and fitting a short-term crown. Throughout the 2nd visit, the short-term crown is replaced with the permanent one. With a same day crown, the entire procedure can be completed in just one appointment. We will use video imaging technology to tke a picture of the tooth and use CAD/CAM innovation to create the crown. This 3D design is wirelessly transmitted to a milling device that carves the restoration from a vacuum formed ceramic block. We will then adhere the new crown to your tooth. This eliminates the need to wear a short-term along with a second visit.

Restorative dentistry procedures can be crucial to the overall health of your teeth and mouth. Please call our office and request a consultation.

Same Day Crowns Restorations

CEREC stands for CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take accurate digital images of areas needing restoration and produce the suitable restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration finished in just one visit. We will design and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer system milling unit right in the office. You no longer need to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the laboratory to fabricate your crown.

CEREC can be used for a wide range of indications: partial crowns, posterior crowns, anterior crowns, veneers, inlays, and onlays.

The Topic Of The Day Is:

Dental Crowns

A crown (or cap) is a covering that covers the whole tooth surface restoring it to its original shape and size. A crown protects and reinforces the tooth structure providing the tooth a longer life span than it would have if recovered by fillings or other kinds of restorations.

Crowns are full coverage restorations that are utilized to cover a tooth that is most likely to break, or is too broken down to be restored with a filling. They are most commonly done after root canal treatments, or when a huge filling breaks. The larger the hole made by a cavity that needs to be treated, the more likely a crown will be required. Even after a filling is put in a huge cavity, a tooth is most likely to break. Keep in mind that the jaw muscles are the strongest in the human body. Teeth go through tremendous pressures. Crowns ride over the weakened tooth, providing strength and securing the tooth against breakage. A damaged or cracked tooth is a far more serious matter and a lot more hard to treat. Crowns prevent this, along with producing a nice smile.

It takes 2 visits to restore a tooth with a crown. In the very first visit any decay is eliminated from the tooth and it is formed to accept the crown. Then an impression is made of the tooth for use in producing a crown. In between the two visits the crown is made, generally of high-strength porcelain over gold alloy, all ceramic material, or gold. A short-term crown is used during this time. In the second visit this temporary crown is removed. Then the {permanent crown is adjusted as needed then cemented in place.

What Does Getting A Crown Include?

A crown treatment usually requires 2 visits. Your very first visit will include taking impressions that will be utilized to produce your customized crown. A mold will also be utilized to produce a temporary crown which will remain on your tooth for approximately 2 weeks up until your brand-new crown is produced by a dental laboratory.

While the tooth is numb, the dentist will prepare the tooth by removing any decay and shaping the surface area to effectively fit the crown. When these details are achieved, your short-term crown will be placed with temporary cement and your bite will be checked to ensure you are biting appropriately.

At your 2nd visit your short-term crown will be removed, the tooth will be cleaned, and your brand-new crown will be thoroughly positioned to make sure the spacing and bite are accurate.

You will be given care guidelines and encouraged to have routine dental check ups to examine your crown. As always, proper oral hygiene will help extend the life of your new crown.
